KAU President opens "E-learning Horizons" Events

 

KAU President Prof. Abdularahman Al Youbi opened the "E-learning and Distance Education Horizons …. Leadership and Excellence " events on Sunday April 10th 2016 at King Faysal Ceremonial Hall. The function is organized by the Deanship of E-learning and Distance Education and attended by KAU Vice-presidents, and deans of Faculties and supporting deanships.

The function started by the opening of the accompanying exhibition and the inauguration of the Digital Warehouse (DW) for educational materials related to the university. The DW is considered  a digital memory for faculty members containing more than 25 thousands educational items varying from pictures, videos, PowerPoint files as well as other technical programs.

KAU President explained that the Deanship of E-learning and Distance Education (DEDE) has proven its excellence by earning prizes, accreditation and scientific advancement by modern electronic means. He added that KAU is one of the very first universities, which stepped ahead in terms of educational methods varieties. The external students program started in 1972 to enable students whose conditions do not allow them to be regular students to enroll as external students. The program developed then to be in line with modern technologies with the spread of the Internet to become the E-learning System in 1995.

Al Youbi also thanked all the DEDE staff and support staff for producing such learning model using excellent standards that go in parallel with KAU ambitions.

From his part the DEDE Dean, Dr. Hisham Bardisi stressed on KAU achievements in terms of E-learning technical acquisitions, considering it a salient proof of this kind of learning development. He added that the holding of this meeting in a confirmation of the advancement of e learning at KAU as well as its challenging ambitions encountered during the course of e-learning development.

He pointed out that KAU sought at fast pace to obtain all available scientific and  technical novelties in E-learning as well as insuring the best and most effective use to achieve leadership in the spread of knowledge among community members within its mission which stands firmly on community service through a leading cultural, scientific and research excellence.

A documentary film on the main DEDE facts and figures was shown of which the training of more than 7000 faculty members on both campuses and the holding of more than 1,500,000 electronic tests at KAU and all over the kingdom. The film also shed some light on some DEDE faculty member's achievements in the "Blackboard System" for academic year 2015 and who were honored by KAU President.
